Live Smart, The Deebot R95 cleans your house
Running out of time? Frequently away from home? Every day is the same challenge, we only have 24 hours and the majority of us has the tendency to postpone the cleaning. There is the washer for the clothes, the dishwasher for the dishes, but what about the floor? If the prospect of an autonomous and intelligent floor cleaner sounds like science-fiction for you, it is time to think twice! There are a number of models on the market and one of them could take care of the floor for you.
As we did with the furniture last month, you should go with a robot which is well adapted to your home. In our condo, we have a mix of wooden floor and ceramic. For this reason, we were looking for a robot able to suck up dirt and debris, and also mop the floor. We tested the Ecovacs Deebot R95 and for us this is the best choice to handle those types of floors. Equipped with lasers, sensors, Wi-Fi, and smartphone app, Deebot navigates around the home without the need for assistance and deliver a deep cleaning.
Deebot comes with a charging dock and charge itself when it runs out of power during a cleaning mode. Before the first use, turn on the Power Switch, place Deebot on the charging dock and charge it for at least 4 hours. The Auto Mode Button flashes when charging, and goes out when Deebot is fully charged. Also, note that it is important to remove the Advanced Wet/Dry Reservoir before charging Deebot, otherwise you won’t be able connect it to the charging dock.
Even if Deebot is smart, we must take few minutes to survey the area to be cleaned and remove any small obstacles like shoes, power cords, or shopping bags that could entangle the robot. In the kitchen, we have bistro chairs with round base so we put them on the counter before cleaning. Moreover, since we use the Advanced Wet/Dry Mopping System, we fold area rug edges under themselves so Deebot avoids the rug.
Once everything is set, we just press the Auto Mode Button on the robot’s control panel and Deebot starts the cleaning in a back and forth straight-line pattern. Deebot has several cleaning mode to choose from effectively clean different floors: Auto Cleaning, Spot Cleaning, and Area Cleaning. When we used Deebot for the first, we sat on the sofa and watched it going from room to room while covering every corner of the house. It was impressive and give us the confidence that Deebot can really do the job!
Now, we do not watch him anymore and we use the Ecovacs App to schedule the cleaning time. Moreover, we can set virtual boundary using the App to block Deebot from cleaning specified area. This is very useful when we did not have time to remove obstacles in specific area but have to proceed with the cleaning in other rooms.
For the kitchen, we use the Spot Cleaning mode designed for area of highly concentrated dirt or dust. In Spot Cleaning Mode, Deebot focuses on a selected specific area to clean and returns to the charging dock once the cleaning is completed. To start this mode, we should use the App and press the spot indicator on the map screen. Deebot has side brushes and spinning brushes to perform an effective and powerful cleaning.
Overall, we can count on Deebot to keep the floor tidy thanks to both vacuum and mopping functions. The robot is compact so it does not take up much space in our storage closet. The interface is user friendly with only 1 button to press to start or to pause the cleaning mode. There is no menu on Deebot that we can scroll through to select the other cleaning modes and features. However, the Ecovacs App gives access to all the Deebot functions.
Despite of the fact that a little maintenance is needed to keep Deebot running at peak performance, this is nothing compared to the time we save every week by not taking care of a pretty thankless chore. Without needing to lift a finger, Deebot cleans for us and we enjoy life đŸ™‚
