Barbie Haute Couture Exhibit at Les Cours Mont-Royal
Yesterday evening, we have celebrated the launch of The Barbie Expo at Les Cours Mont-Royal.
For the first time in Montreal, a permanent exhibit dedicated to Barbie will be open to the public starting February 11th during regular business hours seven days a week. There are many kinds of Barbies from all over the world embodying roles of queens, movie stars, iconic figures, modern women, teenagers, etc.
To celebrate fashion Haute Couture, some of them are dressed by famous designers such as Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Louboutin and many more.
As you are maybe aware, the dolls have come under many critics over the past years for promoting a dream body image and for a lack of diversity. The company Mattel has recently announced the launching of new Barbies who are curvier, shorter, taller and skin coloured.
As a preview, here are a selection of pictures from instagram taken during the lauching event:
The exhibit admission is free and donations will be accepted for « Fais un Voeu ®» Québec.
