5 Spas to Try Around Montreal this Spring
Winter is not over yet but it is coming to an end in less than a month. Personally, I love going to spas at any given time of the year but I have to admit that my 2 favorite seasons are spring and fall. When the temperatures are not too cold or not too hot, you have definitely the best experience ever!
On the blog, I already wrote several articles about the spas I visited in the Quebec province and I thought it would be a good idea to feature 5 of the best I’ve been to, so you could pick one and try for yourself. Read on to find out why you should visit them and how to enjoy your experience to the fullest.
Bota Bota
Bota Bota is anchored at the Quays of the Old Port of Montreal and is easily accessible by bike and public transit. Surrounded by a unique urban decor, this atypical floating spa offers proximity to the St Lawrence River. When you come aboard, you feel the natural lulling movements of the river.
The Bota Bota spa consists of five decks which include: two saunas with incredible views onto the river, three outdoor whirlpool baths, two eucalyptus steam baths, four cold showers and baths, resting areas, a restaurant, terraces, and a garden.
During their off-peak season, early birds can visit the spa for 40$ before 11 a.m from Monday to Thursday. My last visit to Bota Bota was during their peak season in summer, find out more about my experience here.
Strom Spa
Strøm Spa combines a Nordic spa with urbanity to provide a relaxing and energizing experience. With several locations in the countryside, only minutes away from Montreal, Strøm Spa Nordique offers a wide range of services including massotherapy, beauty treatments, healthy dining, and culinary tasting workshops.
I used to visit the Strom Spa located in Ile-des-Soeurs because of its proximity to the downtown core of Montreal (less than 15 minutes away) and easily accessible even during rush hours. The site has a moderate size compared to other spas that I visited, which tends to create a pleasantly intimate atmosphere.
For those looking to relax after work, the entrance is 44$ from Monday to Thursday after 6 pm. This price includes the rental of a bathrobe, a towel, and a locker. Moreover, you can combine relaxation and gastronomy at Strom Spa. Read my brunch experience here.
Spa Le Finlandais
Located in Rosemère, only 30 minutes away from Montreal, Spa Le Finlandais welcomes you in the heart of nature in a peaceful atmosphere. Featuring baths (thermal, arctic and steam), saunas, waterfalls, hammam, multi-sensory experiences and relaxation areas, Spa Le Finlandais is one of the largest Nordic spas in North America.
In addition, a wide range of body and face treatments is available upon appointment to increase the benefits of thermotherapy. Also, you can enjoy healthy meals at Spa le Finlandais Bistro at any time during your visit.
From Monday to Thursday, enjoy your experience at Spa Le Finlandais starting at 34$ after 6 pm. Last December, I went to Spa Le Finlandais a few days after the re-opening but I did not get the chance to try the Temazcal sauna. To learn more about the Temazcal, read my full experience here.
Spa Eastman
While offering a wonderful view of Mount Orford, Spa Eastman is the ideal venue for a health immersion to focus on self-renewal and wellness. Among the indoor facilities offered at Spa Eastman, the Igloo shower and the two Kneipp baths for arms and legs are my favorites.
What I like the most about the Igloo shower is the delicate smell of the fine mist of essential oils. Also, if you have heavy and tired legs, I recommend trying the Kneipp bath for the legs. It soothes the legs instantly!
You could extend your visit at the Spa Eastman thanks to their all-inclusive package starting at 215$ from 1 to 14 nights including three healthy meals, workshops on wellness, gym, and hiking trails (15 km). Last winter I experienced a wonderful yoga retreat for 3 days at Spa Eastman, read my review here.
Nordik Spa
Located two hours away from Montreal, the Chelsea Nordik Spa is the largest spa location in North America. The site is made of 3 area where you can navigate depending on the experience you want: Kaskad (silent section), Börea (whisper section), and Panorama (social section).
Overall, the Chelsea Nordik Spa has 10 baths, 9 saunas, an infinity pool, outdoor and indoor relaxation areas, a restaurant and a café. In addition to massage and body treatments, the Chelsea Nordik Spa-Nature offers two unique treatments: the Källa and the Banyä.
If you plan to visit during the weekend, I would recommend arriving very early since it is busy at this period. The access to the site is 68$ at any time, read my full experience at the Chelsea Nordik Spa here.
To conclude, here are additional tips to prepare your visit:
- Bring a comfortable swimsuit (2 pieces is my recommendation especially if you like sauna and steam room)
- Do not forget your pair of sandals otherwise, you will have to buy a pair at the spa
- Stay hydrated by drinking water between your hydrotherapy cycles
- Book a massage or a body care treatment to complete your experience
